Fine quality original antique brass gas table light with period
etched green glass shade, c.1890. These table lights were known as gas
portables as they were moved from room to room by turning off the gas tap and
removing gas tubing from the source. We have restored this lamp to retain its
original gas tap which is now fixed to allow wiring to pass through it. This is
a really good example with unusual stepped circular base. The
shade is a gas shade which is very pretty when lit. This light
has been polished and re-wired
to modern standards to take standard bayonet bulbs.
